1. Using the Task Manager


The first way to check RAM slots on a laptop without disassembling it is to use the Task Manager. The Task Manager has several main functions, namely to manage which applications are running, check RAM, to monitor system usage (resources). Just follow the steps below.



1. First, please press Ctrl + Alt + Del on the keyboard simultaneously.


2. Then, several options will appear such as lock, switch user, sign out, change password, and task manager. Please click Task Manager.


3. Then, a new window will appear. Please click the Performance menu tab. As shown in the image below.

4. Then, click Memory on your left. Then, you can check the RAM in the Slots used section. As shown in the image below.

5. For example, you can check the image above. In the Slots used section it says 2 of 2, meaning that in your laptop there are 2 RAM slots that are both used. If it says 1 of 2, it means that your RAM is still installed in 1 of the 2 available slots, which means you can add RAM.


6. Done.


2. Using the Speecy Application


The second way to check RAM without having to disassemble it is with the help of third-party applications. One of the recommended applications is the Speecy application. This application can not only be used to check RAM, but you can also check CPU, Audio, Storage, and so on. To check RAM, follow the steps below.


1. First, please download and install the Speccy application first.



2. Then, if you have installed it, please open the Speecy application.


3. Then, please select the RAM on your left. Then, please click on the SPD section and pay attention to the Number of SPD Modules. Then you will find out how many RAM slots you have on your laptop.

3. Using the CPU-Z application


The third way to check RAM without unloading is to use additional applications as well. Just like the second way which also uses additional applications. Apart from these applications, I also recommend the CPU-Z application to check RAM slots on laptops. Besides being able to check RAM slots, this application can also check memory, graphics, and so on. Here are the steps to check the RAM slot.


1. First, please download and install the CPU-Z application first.


2. Then, please open the application.


3. Then, please select the SPD menu tab. As shown in the image below.

4. Then, pay attention to the Slots section and click the triangle icon to find out how many RAM slots you have. As in the picture below.
