Here's How to Enable Hibernate Mode in Windows 8/ 8.1

Geekers - Hibernate can be said to have a way of working that is almost the same as stand by mode.

But the most basic difference between the two is that hibernate mode doesn't require any power at all because the state of the laptop/computer when hibernating is off, while stand-by mode is the other way around.

When your computer/laptop is hibernating, all your activities, including running applications, will still be saved even if they are turned off. So any applications that you previously opened before hibernating will still open after the laptop / computer is turned on again.
