To create a virtual machine we have to enable VT-x in Windows 10 first.



VT-x is a tool where we can allow computers to create virtual machines. Therefore, virtualization applications such as Hyper-V and VMware require VT-x to be able to run their application programs. To be able to activate VT-x in Windows 10, we must enter the computer's BIOS settings. In this article, I use an MSI branded computer.


And each type or brand of computer has its own way of entering the BIOS settings. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you first find out how to enter the BIOS settings on your computer or laptop.



If you don't know how to enter your computer's BIOS settings, then you can follow the steps to enable VT-x in Windows 10 as in the steps below. Because here I will open the BIOS settings via the Settings menu. Here is how to enable VT-x in Windows 10.


1. The first step that must be taken is to click the Windows button and click the Settings menu or settings.

2. In the Settings menu there are many menus. Select and click the Update & Security menu on the settings menu.

3. You will enter the Update & Security menu. So, the next step is to click on the Recovery menu.

4. Pay attention to the Advanced startup section, and click the Restart now button. Wait for the computer to restart. And later will enter the BIOS menu.

5. After restarting, the computer will display several options as shown below. Click Troubleshoot.

6. After that, in the Troubleshoot menu, two other menus will appear, namely Reset this PC and Advanced options. In this option, you must select the Advanced Options menu.

8. To be able to change UEFI Firmware Settings, you must restart your computer. Click the Restart button.

9. Then you will enter your computer's BIOS display. And to see the VT-x menu, you have to enter the System menu and usually the VT-x menu will be named Intel Virtualization Technology. The menu is located under the CPU and Processor menu. You can see the status of the VT-x, if the status is disabled then you have to activate it by changing it to Enable as shown in the picture.

10. When you have finished changing the virtualization technology menu to Enable, then you can click close. And after you click close, a dialog box will appear asking you to save the settings or not. Click Yes in the dialog box to save the settings.
