1. First, please open CMD or Command Prompt on your PC or laptop. As in the picture below. Or you can also open it via Run by pressing the windows icon + R on the keyboard simultaneously, then typing cmd.

2. Then, please type the command chkdsk D: /F/R . Then, press Enter.

CHKDSK D: Checking the external hard drive D: (adjust to the hard drive you want to repair)


/F : This command is used to repair errors without scanning bad sectors.


/R : This command is used to repair errors, find bad sectors and recover data.


3. After you press Enter on the keyboard, the system will perform Fix and Recovery automatically. As in the picture below.

This process will indeed take a long time depending on the size of the hard disk capacity and the capabilities of the PC or laptop that you have.



4. If the process is complete, the display will be like the image below.

5. Then, please open Windows Explorer on your PC or laptop.


6. Then, please right-click on the hard drive that you scanned earlier. Then, click Properties. As shown in the image below.

7. Then, please click the Tools menu tab at the top. As in the picture below.

8. Then, in the Error Checking section, please click Check Now. As shown in the image below.

9. Then, please check the options you want. Or you just ignore following the options of the system. Then, click Start to start. As shown in the image below.

10. Done. Now try to open the problematic file again. Tadaaa.. Your file has been successfully opened.
